About the Bed

I would like to take a minute to have you think about the size and placement of your child’ s bed. Usually the largest piece of furniture in the room, it deserves a couple of minutes of our time.

When we did our two sons’ rooms, we invested in full size beds for each of them. A little hesitant at the time, I am a true believer 10 years later. Here’ s why:

  • Our children transitioned smoothly from the  crib to the full size bed (we put the mattress directly on the bed platform to make it the height of a toddler bed - very cozy). There is actually less chance of them falling out with all that additional room.

  • $ invested in this major piece will last you longer. A small child will become crowded in a twin bed before you can blink an eye. If chosen correctly, this bed frame may last them until they are “ on their own” .

  • When our sons wake up in the middle of the night and need some comforting, there is actually room in the bed for them and us to cuddle (and often both fall asleep).

  • A full size bed provides enough room for your child and a friend to play a game, watch a movie, read a book etc. together on the bed.
So this is open for your consideration. We would love the opportunity to discuss this over the phone to help you make this decision. Also at this time consider bunk beds or a trundle, thinking ahead to when your child is going to want to have sleepovers with school-age friends.

The size of your room will be a piece of this decision. We will need to determine if you have the physical space for a full/queen bed, and, if so, whether it will be necessary to have it pushed up against a wall so that you only have access to one side.

So before we help you in your furniture selections, we need to understand your point of view on this important decision.
