Room Measurements

You may be wondering how we are going to do floor and  wall decor layouts without ever setting foot in your room. Well, if someone in your household (or a good friend) can take accurate measurements to, say, ¼ ” , then you are in luck. Follow the directions below and we will be on our way to laying out your furniture.
  • Take a blank piece of paper and draw a rough sketch/outline of the walls of your child’ s room. Include any juts, jags, bow windows, etc. that you see. This is just a sketch and does not need to be drawn to scale. We will be happy to take care of that.

  • Now, with a stiff measuring tape, measure the overall length of each straight wall that you drew on the sketch. Run right past any doors, windows, closets etc., as we will insert them in the next step. Mark these dimensions on the appropriate walls on the sketch. This is the time to heed the saying “ measure twice, cut once” . It may be a good idea to have a spouse, friend or yourself double-check the measurements before sending them off to us.

  • Next take a look at anything such as a door, window or closet that exists on the walls. Using a pencil, mark on your sketch the ends of each of these things (approximate locations only) on the appropriate wall, and label them as “ closet” , “ window” , etc.

  • Now measure the overall length of the closet, window, door etc. and mark this on the sketch. For doors and windows use the inside measurements and do not include the molding.

  • Finally take the tape measure and measure from the closest wall edge to the closest inside edge of the window or closet or door (please remember to go past the molding to the inside edge). This will allow us to position it correctly on the sketch.

Please take the sketch and either fax it to us (to your interior decorator’ s attention) at 1-845-635-0915 or mail it to:
