Different Types of Fabrics
Most of the print and coordinate fabrics that we offer by the yard and in pre-designed
bedding sets are 100% cotton. We love incorporating fabric into our designs to add dimension and interest. Listed below are some different types of fabric (available in a multitude of colors) that we can easily work into your room, regardless of whether you are doing a
custom bedding design or purchasing one of our pre-designed sets. You can sign out a set of swatch samples (large 18” x 18” sample sizes) by simply giving us a call. We charge your credit card $50 at the time you order the swatch samples, and you will receive a full credit once they are returned in the pre-paid, addresses envelope/box that you simply drop in your mailbox.
Minky Dot/Smooth
Minky  is an irresistibly soft and versatile fabric. Often favored for receiving/stroller blankets and baby bibs, minky in fact appeals to boys or girls of any age. We find that older children are drawn to the comfort of our soft minky pillows and blankets, with which they can cuddle up in bed to read a good book. Euro pillows (for older children, say age 5 and up) or 20” square pillows (for our younger clients) paired with a matching minky blanket make wonderful additions to any child’ s room. Order a single minky sample, or our full swatch pack. If you have never held minky in your hand you don’ t know what you are missing! Available in approximately 40 solid colors and many prints and coordinates.
Minky Silky Plush
A member of the minky family, this fabric has a longer pile than the minky smooth fabric. The effect is softer and more feminine, making it more suitable for a girl’ s room or nursery.
Silk Dupioni
If you are looking to add just a touch – or all-out – elegance to your child’ s room, look no further than our distinctive silk dupioni fabric. Available in approximately 130 solid colors, the right hue can surely be found to coordinate beautifully with your other chosen fabrics. We love to use silk dupioni for bed skirt underskirts (with only a couple of inches peeking through under another fabric) and piping trim and ties.
Silk Organza
Silk organza is a very fine and airy fabric that works well as an added bed skirt underskirt or as sheers hanging from a four-poster bed or from a bed crown.
Microsuede
Looking for a resilient fabric to add a relaxed, soft touch to your child’ s room? Our microsuede fabric is a great choice. We love to use this fabric in boy’ s rooms for custom pillows and piping on bedding as it adds a sense of rough and tumble to any bedding set. Microsude also works very well for gliders and chairs.
Tulle/Tulle with Shimmer
Tulle is a very fine fabric and is used to create stunning and ultra-feminine dé cor touches around your daughter’ s bed. If your little girl longs to be a princess, then let us make some suggestions on how to tastefully incorporate some tulle into her design. Available in many colors, and glitter also.
Silk Taffeta
If you are looking to add just a touch – or all-out – elegance to your child’ s room, take a look at our distinctive silk taffeta fabric. Available in approximately 65 solid colors, the right hue can surely be found to coordinate beautifully with your other chosen fabrics.
Satin
Many infants love the soft, silky touch of satin, which is why you see it used on so many receiving blankets and softies. We can add some as trim to your bedding set. Available in approximately 15 different colors.
Linen
Fine linen fabric is one of our favorite and most versatile dé cor touches. We love linen for, well, almost anything! Bedding, windows, gliders, pillows, accessories, custom
lampshades, the list could go on forever. We have over 110 solid colors to choose from, so let us find the perfect hue to coordinate magnificently with your room.
Chenille Line
Chenille line is a fabric that we find works well in
nurseries, for bedding and gliders.
