Supplemental Fabrics
At this point, you should have a collection of main fabrics in your hand. Before we design all the “ soft” items in your room, however, there is one more important stop to make in our custom boutique. Please take a look at Lily Pad’ s own supplemental fabrics (solid colored silk dupioni, tulle, linen, minky, etc.) because we can add any of these to your collection.  In designing for children, I have tactfully used upwards of 8 different fabrics in a single room to great effect. The room looks pulled together without undue repetition. Now, using the Fabric Types that we shipped you earlier (linen, tulle, organza etc.), look at which of these you would most like to add to your collection.  To find these fabrics, follow this site navigation:  Shop by  Bedding / Fabric by the Yard / Solids. There are multiple ways they can be used:
- As a substitution for a fabric in the collection that you do not particularly care for.  Love Linen? Purchase 2 yards of linen and we can swap out the piping, ties, and the bedskirt band on your crib bedding set.  We will send your preferred fabric to your bedding artisan and they will incorporate it at no additional cost.
- As a second “ underlayer” bedskirt. Our supplemental fabrics make wonderful options for this charming look.
- For window treatments, particularly side panels, which we will go into later.
- In a glider or kids’ chair. Adding custom piping (silk dupioni for example) is a great way to dress up any of our gliders.
- To fashion a throw for the end of the bed. We have not met a child yet who has not fallen in love with the sumptuously soft minky throw at the foot of their bed!
- To fashion a pillow. Kids (and Moms, Dads and dogs!) also love minky pillows. We have done euro and 20” x20” minkys as opposed to the standard decorative pillows offered as options to the bedding collection.
- For a bed crown. Silk organza or tulle fabric looks beautiful hanging from a bed crown (If you haven’ t seen these take a look!).  The crowning touch for your princess’ bed!
Call us with the types of fabrics you like, and we will send you swatches of those supplemental fabrics that will coordinate well with your selected main fabrics from your bedding ensemble.
At this point, your room fabric palette is complete and we are ready to design!
